There are three levels of difficulty for each of the tasks. Logical reasoning, data analysis, problem solving, theory formulation and testing are all introduced to children through the game, among other skills. Of course, there is a purpose to the fun children develop maths, logic and science skills as they go. You only have a limited number of chances to get the Zoombinis through each task - get it wrong too many times and you’ll have to come back for the ones who didn’t make it the first time. There are over 200 Zoombinis that have to make it to the island and complete all the tasks before the island is returned to its original state. Once the Zerble population, increases, the island’s ecology will slowly recover. The pollinated plants must then be planted, the fruit fed to the Zerbles and the Zerbles paired off to mate. The caterpillars will be fed to make them go into cocoons, brought to the planetarium to transform into moths and then brought to the plants to help pollinate them. The entire ecological system depends on co-operation between the different plants, animals and insects on the island. The Zoombinis have decided to return to the isle and try to sort out the situation the plan is that every Zoombini returns to the island carrying a caterpillar. The Bloats destroyed the natural habitat and then abandoned the isle, leaving the Zerbles and other wildlife struggling to survive. If the mud all hits the launch pad, nothing will happen.Īs the difficulty increases, more wheels are added making the pattern harder to follow. The story follows the Zoombinis, a strange race of creatures that found themselves exiled from their homeland by the horrible Bloats. The balls are made of rock or mud and the player must get the timing and order correct so that the rock ball hits the launch pad that the Zoombini is standing on. A large wheel turns round in a circle that can be stopped at any time and two sets of balls are selected to fill in the cups that are attached to the ends of the spokes on the wheel. The first puzzle in the game is a mixture of timing and pattern finding.

Once the Zoombinis get all of the 224 Zerbles into the wild, the Zoombinis head back to Zoombiniville, and the game is won. To win the game, the Zoombinis must take care of the Zerbles, feed them, and then release them into the wild. The graphics have again changed, and the Zoombinis' features are no longer important to gameplay. This is the first game to incorporate science in the puzzles, which include intersection of rates, decoding, astronomical time, Venn diagrams, and Punnett squares, as well as some reincarnations of puzzles from Logical Journey. They must complete different puzzles, such as growing berries and breeding butterflies, to eventually set off a chain reaction that will restore the entire ecosystem of the island to its original glory. So they take a boat and travel to Zoombini Isle, which is now completely empty of the Bloats (who made the land barren and then moved on). In this game, the Zoombinis discover that they left the moths to die in their native land of Zoombini Isle. This game was the second sequel to be released by The Learning Company.
